A review of South Lodge by Anonymous written on Saturday 25th of July 2009
I spent about 5 years at South Lodge until it closed in 1987. I was only 8 when it closed so my memories are vague, but I recall very fond memories. The grounds were lovely. I recall teachers like Mr Storer (PE), who I later met at Babington, Mrs Geary (I think), Mrs Weaver (cooking) and Mr Bennett. I think the Headmaster at the time was Mr Robert Barlow - a lovely gentleman who demonstrated great passion.
I think there was some sort of reunion for ex pupils a few years back, but I'd love to meet for another reunion in the near future.
Although I was glad that I moved to a 'normal' school as I was better able to interact with able-bodied peers and so improve my education, I still look back and have good memories of South Lodge..
