A review of Moel Llys by Trevor Plumb written on Monday 15th of January 2024
I spent 3 very happy years here, with Mr and Mrs Elvidge in charge.
MAS, you know who you are, was one of the children I remember who was there when I was.
We had great fun including the using swimming pool, garden parties, sitting on the stairs to hear the christmas carol singers, playing "Battle Ships" in the dark, going on holiday to Chedder and Grassington, going tobogganing down the hill behind the castle in the deep snow, bonfire night, hot jacket spuds cooked in the ashes of the bonfire, climbing the pine trees, sitting in the old cars in winter with milk bottles of hot water to keep warm, playing Monopoly in the veranda in winter, polishing the dining room floor, sitting in the "Staff room" listening to Mrs Elvidge reading "Winnie the Poo" to us all before bed (she was fantastic at that), going to school in the old van, Mr Jarow the veg man, and on and on it goes.
Did I enjoy my time under the watchful eyes of Mr and Mrs Elvidge. YOU BET I DID.
A BIG "thank you" to ALL, including the children, who made the best years of my childhood..
