My mother is 94 , I had a text to say she needs a blood pressure reading sent to a link on the text!
It took 1 hour for the phone to be answered, and then I was asked if I had a blood pressure monitor! No I don’t , was asked if I could buy one , no I can’t, I told the person on reception that I do not live near my mother and she is house bound , would it be possible to get someone from the surgery to take her blood pressure? As she literally lives across the road , the answer was no we don’t send nurses to house bound people for blood pressure!
I was then asked does she have a carer, I replied yes she has a carer for one hour a day , well could they do it ? No we don’t have a blood pressure monitor! And if we did how would she send on the readings, I was told I would have to send her the link at the bottom of the text!
I thought blood pressure had to be taken at least 5 days so that an average can be worked out!
So this conversation was buy a blood pressure monitor, get the carer to do it ! Get the link sent ! Oh boy no wonder the surgery has inadequate, where is the help for the old people , there isn’t any here. This is yet another complaint I have had to write in . I do understand that everyone is under pressure at the moment , but use a bit of common sense , more staff to answer phones and more help for the elderly who are house bound ..
