A review of Merridale Medical Centre by Elizabeth Kinnear written on Thursday 25th of February 2021
I had a really awful abscess on my shoulder. The pain was off the scale. I saw a lovely advanced nurse practitioner ( I think his name was John.) . I had been in so much pain for over a week. The out of hours doctor put me on antibiotics. I attended the surgery. John sent me to A & E. with a letter. When I got there they incised my abscess and packed it. The hospital made an appointment for review and redressing for 2 days later and all the nurses were terrific. I have been a patient at merridale for over 30 years. No it's not perfect but who is ? They do their best. The receptionists just can't magic appointments up. I was a nurse for 45 years and it is so easy to complain but they are doing their best with what they have got. I have seen patients yell and shout at staff for just doing their best. Over the blast year they just need people to cut them some slack. I do agree it sometimes takes a while to get an appointment but I think most surgeries are in the same boat. I can't complain at all, and I know from experience that if you feel unwell, the last thing you want or need is to battle to see a doctor, let's cut them some slack..
