"Very disapointing experiece dealing with Blunts."

I bought a pair of Clarkes shoes from Blunts for my wife's birthday after she had tried them on for size in their shop. The price paid was £29 99. When we arrived at home we noticed that one of the shoes was faulty in that the elastic top tensioner was stretched and there were marks on the side of the heel. I immediately rang the shop and spoke to a Mr Patel who politely asked us to return the shoes and they would either replace them or make a full refund. I told him that it would be seven days before I could get back to the shop again and he said that this would be no problem

When we returned to the shop the following Saturday, we were told by an assistant Vararska, that as they did not have further stock of the shoes the only thing that they could offer was a credit note, adding that the reason the shoes were only £29.99 and not the full price was because they were faulty. I told her what Mr Patel, who I guessed was probably the manager, had said but she said as he was out at the present time a credit note was the only option. I asked if he could be contacted by mobile phone as she appeared not to believe what I was telling her, so she brought a piece of paper with his number on it for me to call him. In the end she was persuaded to call him from the shop - I wasn't allowed to speak to him - but he confirmed what he had promised me and a refund was eventually made. We left the shop without any kind of apology for how we had been treated, but we made a vow never to shop at Blunts again (We have been customers there for over 15 years) I found it hard to believe that the only reason that Blunts reduce the price of their shoes is because they are faulty.

Please be very careful when dealing with this store!
