A review of The Hawthorns by George written on Wednesday 7th of May 2014
I have lived at the Hawthorns for over a year and to be honest as far as the property is concerned I am disappointed. The biggest problem is the glazing. I was led to believe that it was double glazing but found out it is single glazed with draughty wooden frames that have shrunk and distorted over the years. The other residents have been trying for well over 5 years to get these changed but the letters ASRA as usual have done nothing.
The next big problem which is a health and safety concern is the driveway. The driveway has needed resurfacing for years but all that ASRA do is fill the holes with cold tarmac. This is removed by the weather and at present is a depth trap.
The guttering is the next major concern. There is not one part of the building that does not have blocked gutterings. ASRA don't remedy this as they say the gutters are too high for ladders so scaffolding or a cherry picker is needed. Due to the high cost the gutters will be done when the windows are fitted. It is very hard to get ASRA to do anything that includes a cost and of course if a property is left to its own devises all jobs have a cost. Sometimes we get an housing officer that is good but we often lose these to other schemes as they call them.
On the plus sign it has a lovely lounge and the residents are fantastic..
