"Hidden gem"

Nesting among a diverse and busy high street that is Leicester's Narborough Road is this quiet, unassuming little place which serves excellent Indian food and has done so, extremely well, since 1974; long before many of it's "nosier" competitors joined what is a hard game in this City. Laguna has a clean, basic and welcoming interior. Fresh, real table linens and a simple arrangement of tables add to the focus of the experience of eating for enjoyment (though the loop CD or tape needs more music and a bit of attention, I noticed the same song four times in 2 hours!).

The food is freshly prepared and it shows, what would be standard dishes in other Indian restaurants is much more special here. The service is polite, nothing is too much trouble to improve your experience and the novice or experimental diner will get a lot of good advice on dishes, spices, sizes to order (they won't let you over order just to make more money, if the staff think you are ordering more than you need they will tactfully tell you so - they want you to enjoy your food, not to overdo it through misinformation!).

A must try and way ahead in this well populated game for Leicester. They don't brag about what they do here but I think they should a little more!.
