I am glad that I am not the only one who is frustrated by the lack of appointments available or the release of appointments available to see a GP let alone the GP of your choice. Not to mention the exhaustive and complicated system to try and get an appointment via the times when one can and cannot phone. I have experienced waiting for an appointment as much as 6 months for a particualar GP. This 'ransom holding' of the appontments book/system by the practice manager (although upon enquiry have been informed that they act upon the doctor's instructions) surely leads to inconsistency in care and lack of contiunuity for treatment. Is the practice catchment too large and if so then surely correct recruitment of experienced GP's should be a priority and not rely on locum cover..
