Frezenburgh Parade
Traditionally, the Battle of Frezenberg is commemorated in mid-May with a parade and service at the Leicestershire Yeomanry (Prince Albert's Own) Regiment Memorial in Bradgate Park, Leicestershire.
On May 16th, the Squadron Headquarters Adult Instructors and Officers attended the morning church service held at Newtown Linford. The Banner Party was made up of cadets from F squadron and TA soldiers formed the Guidon Party.
Following the church service the cadets and TA paraded at the ‘Old John’ Memorial, on Bradgate Park, where the Old Comrades laid wreaths in memory of old friends and the Last Post was played by PAI Place, accompanied by the Corps of Drums.
Finally, we returned to Welbeck Defence 6th Form College, where we enjoyed lunch with the Old Comrades and TA personnel.
The cadets continue to take great pride in their affiliation to the Leicestershire & Derbyshire Yeomanry by supporting the Parade and, as part of their Military Knowledge lesson, are taught about the soldiers that fell holding the line at Ridge on the 13th May 1915
