I have worked with cmht both in london and leicester over a perioad of 13 yrs, I manged to be discharged from the services in 2008 and now live in the comunitity medication free,with over 7 yrs spent on the psychatric units i have developed an understanding of how mental illness's develop, I had to learn how to control my anger issues,command voices, and develop who i was as a person and learn to be comtable with that,I now see the way forward is though a program that i have developed called peer support self help recovery programs,when you are in psychossis (crissis periods) it is extremly important to take the right approuch to any given problem, and feel that local authortys such as cpn, doctors, police, often find this period extremally difficult to approuch, this is where peer support comes into play, i am more able to understand what the client is feeling and going though and by using a non medical approuch feel it is possable to build a better working relationship with the client and am in a far greater position to gain their trust, I would like to have peer support programs running nationally and would welcome the idea of working along side professionals with regauards to setting up a program running from local cmht offices
