A review of Little Italy by Adam Horton written on Thursday 4th of February 2010
Having driven past Little Italy on Welford Road on a number of occasions, I decided I would finally go here for a meal on the recommendation of a friend. On arrival, I found the place had a very warm feel and quite private but a look of serious professionalism in terms of looking like a real authentic Italian restaurant.
I was seen to by the waiter with a manner of "nothing is any trouble" and was served my starter of olives and bread very quickly (which I must say were the best olives I have eaten in Leicester!)
I went for a safe choice of lasagne, thinking this would fulfill my hunger and fairly low expectations as I have experienced some poor food in leicestershire in recent months but the food was cooked with very fresh and good quality cheese, pasta and mince that left me regretting not opting for a slightly more adventurous option on the menu.
The only slight falldown would be during busier periods that as only one waiter is serving, this may mean long waiting times, but this is displayed on the wall!
Overall I would certainly rate this as one of the best Italian restaurants in Leicester and recommend anyone who wants to try genuine real tasting Italian food to come and see for themselves how it is done, it is certainly a hidden treasure! .
